Upping the ante

Fact: GMP guarantees to make Rutland “Vermont’s solar city” by installing more solar generation per capita in the city than any other in Vermont.

Fact: The state and AllEarth Renewables just announced a 2.2 Mw generating facility in South Burlington. As SoBur is about 1,000 souls larger than RutVegas, that puts the bar at just under 2.2 Mw minimum.

Fact: Ferrisburgh, pop. 2,657, has a 1 Mw solar farm. That works out to 376 watts per person. Times Rutland’s c. 16,500 population and that’s about 6.2 Mw of solar installations in the city. That starts to get fairly exciting.
