On Thursday, I’ll be at the annual meeting for the Vermont League of Cities and Towns up in Killington, part of the team of Rutlanders bringing Art Jones’ documentary “The Blood in This Town” to the northeast and the nation (there’s also a showing in Washington, D.C., on the 13th).
And I just got the heads up that Joanna Tebbs Young has started promoting the “One City, One Prompt” initiative coming up the end of this month at the Fox Room of the glorious Rutland Free Library.
One City, One Prompt is, as the Russians say, pod yevo slovam, (in their own words), “a three month long series of hosted writing, performance, and community-building events across the country, intended to cultivate greater civility, deeper dialogue, and sense of purpose. Facilitators from more than 70 communities will be hosting events in which participants will respond to a common theme shared throughout all the participating cities, the results of which will be made public through the website OneCityOnePrompt.org. ”
The Rutland version is Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 ayem to noon. Aspiring writers and deep thinkers should definitely mark their calendars now.
More details undoubtedly upcoming in the next couple of weeks.
